Hero of Crossroads, Gardener of the Heart: Three Songs for Baritone and Chamber Ensemble
Penn Composer's Guild Fall Concert
Sunday, November 15, 2009 3:00pm - 5:00pm Rose Recital Hall, Fisher-Bennett Building SE Corner of 34th and Walnut St. Philadelphia, PA
Join me at the world premiere of my PhD Thesis Piece, "Hero of Crossroads, Gardener of the Heart: Three Songs for Baritone and Chamber Ensemble," settings of works by Poet Laureate Stanley Kunitz. The themes of these intensely emotional texts revolve around the repercussions of change, the nature of passionate and destructive love, the ever-haunting fear of death and separation, and finding resurrection in the human soul.
Maestro Jeremy Gill conducts a large chamber ensemble featuring NYC's Lyric Baritone, Andrew Cummings, and highly-acclaimed Philly pianist, Tim Ribchester, among other expert Philadelphia musicians.
The piece will appear on the Penn Composer's Guild Fall Concert, among other works by Penn Composers. There will be a reception following the concert at the hall.
